At Optimal Health Lab, we understand that surgery is only one part of your recovery journey—the real success lies in how you prepare and rehabilitate. Our physiotherapists deliver exceptional, evidence-based care before and after your operation, ensuring you achieve the best possible outcome with confidence and clarity.
Before surgery, our focus is on preparation, both physically, mentally and logistically. We help you reduce pain, improve strength and mobility, and equip you with the knowledge to approach your procedure feeling informed and empowered. Entering surgery in the best possible condition sets the foundation for a faster, safer, and more effective recovery.
After surgery, we guide you through every stage of rehabilitation with a personalised plan tailored to your procedure, your body, and your goals. We provide structured, progressive rehab plans that include manual therapy, exercise prescription, strength and conditioning, and return-to-activity planning. We also offer VALD ForceDecks testing to track your progress objectively and guide your return to sport or work.
Whether you’re returning to elite sport, getting back to work, or simply moving without pain, we restore strength, function, and confidence progressively and safely. Working closely with your surgeon and the wide healthcare team (inside and outside OHL), we provide coordinated, elite care—because at OHL, we don’t just help you heal, we help you thrive.
Once you’ve booked your initial consultation, our admin team will send you a registration form. Please take a few minutes to complete it with your medical history, surgical details, and personal goals. You’ll also be able to upload any pre-surgical or post-surgical imaging, operation reports, or referral letters, which helps your physiotherapist prepare thoroughly.
On the day of your appointment, arrive ten minutes early and wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and access to the surgical area (if appropriate). This helps us assess your mobility and function effectively.
We welcome private clients, as well as those supported by TAC, WorkCover, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, self-managed and plan-managed NDIS, and Medicare plans with a GP referral.

Our Team:
Our new dance screening combines objective strength testing with dance-specific expertise to assess strength, control, and movement quality. Each 45-minute session provides dancers with a clear summary of results and a personalised strength and conditioning program designed to support safer training, improved technique, and performance goals.
Warm‑ups before high‑intensity exercise consistently improve performance and reduce injury risk, but not all warm‑up methods are equally effective. Research shows that stretching, whether static or dynamic does not meaningfully enhance performance or prevent injuries for most sports. The most reliable warm‑up strategy is simple: rehearse the movements you’re about to do at a lower intensity, then gradually build up.
Physiotherapist takes you through the strong links between pain and stress. How these areas are interconnected and how we can best make a plan to help get your pain under control.
